Effective and medical approved remedies are considered to be the following four options.The first three belong to non surgical hair loss solutions and the last one is a surgical treatment:

• Finasteride also known as Propecia is an oral medication. It binds? to androgen modulators and act by removing a negative factor; the DHT, which is the main cause for male pattern baldness. Finasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme type one 5 alpha reductase which blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT  therefore inhibiting the shrinkage of the hair follicle. It is not recommended to be used by  women. Nevertheless Finasteride works mainly for the crown area and not well on receding hairlines.
• Minoxidil-a topic solution well known as Regaine. It is a hair growth stimulator and its action is based on its efficacy in adding to the hair follicle a positive growth enhancing solution.
•  Laser therapy in low level cool laser energy. It can be used from men and women. It stimulates the hair follicles by photo-bio stimulation which  increases  blood flow to the scalp and strengthens the follicles by feeding them with useful nutrients. It is a home-applied laser treatment device.
• Hair transplantation; currently being  the only permanent treatment. It is a straight forward procedure with very natural results.

It is necessary to mention that in cases where  Minoxidil and Finasteride are stopped; any benefit that was achieved due to these products will be gone whic makes them to be  on-going treatments. People that start treatment in early stages of hair loss will benefit significantly on their long term results.
